Frequently Asked Questions

Questions,
answered plainly.

Everything you need to know before your first conversation with us. If something isn't covered here, we are always happy to speak directly.

The Service
Do I need to come to you, or do you come to me?

We come to you. Rivmont is a fully mobile bespoke service — we travel to your home, office, or wherever is most convenient, anywhere in the country. There is no showroom to visit, no appointment to commute to. The fitting happens on your terms, in your space.

What is the difference between Bespoke and Made-to-Measure?

Both begin with a private fitting at your location. Both result in a garment built from scratch, for your body alone. The difference lies in how it is constructed.

Bespoke means every pattern is hand-drafted by a single craftsman — no block pattern, no machine involvement in cutting or construction. Made-to-Measure means your measurements inform a custom pattern, cut and constructed through a combination of computer-aided precision and skilled hand-finishing. The intention is the same. The method — and the investment — differs.

We are transparent about this distinction because we believe the industry owes it to clients to be honest about what these words actually mean.

Do you work with wedding parties and groups?

Yes — and it is some of the work we take most seriously. We dress grooms, groomsmen, brides, bridesmaids, and parents for the full occasion. Each garment is fitted individually, coordinated as a whole. For large parties, we recommend beginning as early as possible to allow time for every member of the group.

How far in advance should I reach out?

As early as you can. A Bespoke garment requires 10–14 weeks in standard production; a Made-to-Measure garment takes 4–6 weeks. If event styling is involved — coordinating a full party, multiple fittings, extended styling — we recommend 6 months for Bespoke and 3 months for Made-to-Measure. Rush service is available when timelines are tight, though additional fees apply.

Fittings & Process
What happens at the first fitting?

We begin by listening. Before any measuring takes place, we discuss your lifestyle, the occasion, your preferences in silhouette and detail, and how you want to feel in the finished garment. From there, we take your measurements and present fabric options together — without pressure, at your pace.

How many fittings does the process involve?

Every Rivmont garment follows a three-stage process.

I.

Consultation Fitting

Measurements are taken, fabric is selected, and all design decisions are made together. This is where the garment begins.

II.

Verification Fitting

For Bespoke clients, a basted try-on fitting confirms every line before final construction begins. For Made-to-Measure, a verification fitting is included as needed.

III.

Perfection Fitting

The final fitting with the completed garment. Any last refinements are made before delivery. We do not consider the garment finished until you are satisfied.

Confirmed at consultation
When is payment due?

Payment is required before production begins. For clients who prefer to split the investment, we accommodate a 50% deposit to initiate the order, with the remaining balance due before delivery. Please raise this during your consultation and we will arrange accordingly.

Partnerships & Collaboration
Do you work with stylists and creative agencies?

Yes — and this is a growing part of what we do. Rivmont Partners is our network for independent stylists and agencies who want to offer bespoke and made-to-measure services to their own clients, with Rivmont handling production and fulfillment. If you are a stylist looking for a trusted production partner, we would like to speak with you.

Can you produce garments for brands or businesses?

Yes. We work with businesses building custom wardrobe programs, uniform lines, and private label garments. This work is handled through a separate channel — please reach out directly and we will connect you with the right team.

How do I inquire about a partnership?

Reach out through our contact page and let us know you are inquiring about a partnership or collaboration. We will respond directly and take it from there.

Policies
Can I cancel after production has begun?

Because every Rivmont garment is built from scratch for one person, cancellations are not possible once production has begun. Materials are sourced and work commences immediately after the order is confirmed. We encourage you to raise any questions or uncertainties during the consultation — we are always happy to take the time needed before we begin.

What if the garment needs adjustment after delivery?

We stand behind our work. If minor adjustments are needed after delivery, we will assist directly — either at a follow-up fitting or by connecting you with a trusted local tailor if geography makes a return visit impractical. Our goal is a garment that fits correctly and lasts — and we do not consider the job finished until that standard is met.
